There are many reasons to replace a roof, some are obvious other now so obvious and need a full inspection before a detailed diagnostic report can be made.
Leaking roofs need to be repaired before they become an obvious feature, the obvious signs of leaking roofs are numerous. The most common indicators are:
- Water seeping into the home during heavy rainfall
- Water spots or discoloured areas on ceilings and walls
- Darkening of ceiling paint
- Peeling paint around skylights or windows
- Cracked or bubbled plaster
- Crumbling drywalls
- Wood decay in your crawlspace, or around skylights and windows
- Decaying or stained soffits and fascia
- Deteriorated indoor air quality
- Musty smell in the crawl spaces
- Mould on insulation, ceilings, etc.
Storm damage can also take years to be visible, roofs are designed to take the punishment met by the Queensland weather. It may take more than one storm before the signs are visible - high winds, heavy rain and hail can all cause debris to hit a roof leading to wear and tear.
Damage aside there are times that you want and need a new roof as part of a restoration project. For this scenario, you can just call us in to inspect the existing roof. If you are working with architects and builders we may need to talk to them about the project.
